I was thinking about him on Saturday for some reason. The day he died was the day the fans connection with the club died really imo .

Always nice when he used to walk around town with his swindon jacket on smoking his pipe , probably the last man at the club I can remember actually being proud to be connected with the club.

I sometimes think back to Jimmy Saville's death too, you can't help but feel when he passed away the heart of the club went too.  We've never really recovered.

I always remember that bit in the C4 documentary when him and Chalky are talking about "injured" players.  Quality piece of fly on the wall that was!

RIP Kevin indeed!

Kevin Morris was around at the start of my support but was a family friend.  WE should of found a place for him at the club, a non playing legend.

We were chatting yesterday about loan players and said we felt Jimmy David would of been in teh prem by now.

Agreed that was a dark moment, but the Kevin Morris incident really knocked management, players and fans for six.  He's never ever been replaced in the emotional link kind of way.

Yes and no. Well mainly yes. In a normal model it's sustained success on the pitch that translate to a large crowd. Unless you do something drastic like Bradford did in slashing the season ticket prices of course.

Hunt broke the club trying to get back into the Prem. From that point onwards success was going to be difficult enough with a well run club, nigh on impossible on the shambles that was left behind.

Its a fair point ....I attended the funeral.  Very moving, there was a lot of debate at teh time as to the reason KM did it.  I don't suppose we'll ever know.

Hunt used to send McMahon on management training courses, which were run by his company...there's no place for sentiment in modern management.  Somehow though afootball club is different.   Eddie Buckley hung on in there for some years, mainly because he worked for no money.

Eddie and Kevin used to take my Dad to training back in the early 60's before he gave up football and took on an apprenticeship as a Painter with Arnold Darcy.

Has he passed away too?

He was on that C4 programme too wasn't he, with Oggi, "stay calm old man" or something to that affect.

Only met Kevin Morris a couple of times but he went way out his way to help me when he didn't need to . An absolutely sound bloke.  He's not been replaced but Dick mackey is also a sound bloke.
