That could be one of the options yes.
How long do you give him though?
Byrne wasn't given a chance by most on here.

the how long one is a good question, I couldn't say for certain that he wasn't working before he'd had a pre-season and a transfer window, so I guess Novemberish.

Guess he deserves that but still not impressed so far, altho perhaps its better to experiment this season than start of next.

I think that's the problem. People wanted rid of Byrne so we could get in an experienced manager in who would get us playing to our perceived potential.

Then we got in a relatively inexperienced manager who now has to spend time to learn about the players etc. I think this is why many have got on Malpas' back so early on.

I must admit I don't think it was the right appointment but things could change as time wears on.

I like the fact he is trying different things (strange ones admittedly), trouble is we dont have the players to do it so maybe next season we will, here's hoping.

I think we're all assuming he doesn't learn anything from these experiments. If we actually assumed the opposite it may mean he can get the players in that he wants and get rid of the ones he doesn't like etc. as he's seen exactly what they can and can't offer.

Think we should have a - Do you think Malpas will be a success poll.

Please don't.

Actually, can you normal types start polls in the boardroom section? I think I disabled it after loads of cretin style polls about takeovers and shit.

It's stupid anyway. Whether or not you think he'll be a success is pretty immaterial. Unless all you're interested in is some arse wipe style "I told you so". In which case you're a cretin anyway and can fuck off.

I'm not sure anybody's claiming we should sack him right now and get someone new in. Well I'm sure there are a few, but quite frankly that seems like a mental idea. If the rest of the season remains pretty abysmal then I can see an argument for change. Mainly because the end of the season is the best time for a manager change, and if it's starting to become clear that it'll become inevitable, then you might as well do it sooner rather than another fucking mid season change.

As most on here were somewhat involved in the protests and stuff (which were all much more recent than they actually feel), it seems like there's a line between people who are happy that the club isn't going under and others who are disappointed that it hasn't instantly translated over to the football side of things.

Personally, it was always more about the continuous existence of the club and it not being ran into the ground on the roulette table of a quick buck. I'm happy with a season and a half of league one security, before the club starts pushing for more. I'm not really bothered if Malpas is just going to hang around for this stable (and dull) period, eventually being replaced by a more ambitious successor; or if he pulls it out the bag at some point and it's under him that we turn good and push up the league. Unless things get too bad of course, and I think that comes under the subject of one of the previous paragraphs of this pretend sensible post.

I'm going to have to post a fuck load of manatee pictures to make up for this one.

Was joking really, no us normal types cant which as you said is probably a good job. Perhaps this is Fittons plan all along, somebody to take us to end of season then replace with a.n.other, tho why not just keep Byrne? Think i should go to bed im confusing myself.

I expected people to pick up on the other bits of my badly written, randomly long, marathon football post.

If that's the only problem you had with what I wroted, then I'm ok with it. And maybe slightly aroused.
