The players are just not good enough bar the obvious exceptions.Until Malpass has had time to mould his own team i will support him,it was attrocious yesterday but i will judge this time next season, everyone has there opinions thats wats good about this forum,my opinion is that calling for the managers head after 6 matches or so aint right,Ihope Fitton backs him in the transfer market come the summer,so we can judge him next season.

I totally agree with that. We all know our midfield isn't up to the mark. It's no secret that Malpas wants that creative midfielder we so badly need. If he can land his man in the summer and then get a few more tidy additions in then i think he could have the squad he wants. Let's not foget that Sturrock didn't have the sort of squad he wanted here until the start of this season and he needed the summer to get some of the players he wanted in. We won't go down (we only need 3 more wins) so let's give him time.

Exactly. We played some shit games under sturrock, which seem to be totally glossed over as a period of unparrelled sucess in the history of STFC in the current climate.

some of you drama queens need to get a grip.  It will be fair enough after another 4/5 games like that but its just so fucking knee jerk at the moment.

Let's put this in perspective - we are shit, everyone agrees with that, if we continue to be shit and play in the same manner in the next few games then we have a problem - but I don't think we will it was an incredibably bad day where no one got started.

We all know we lack in certain areas and hopefully we may see a loan or 2 come in to strengthen those positions.

those players were good enough to get us out of the basement league.we have had a few good scalps and a few dodgy results thus far.
we are, where we should be imo.a fairly decent league 1 side!
if we want to take it to the next level we will need a cash injection for sure.
but blaming malpas already beggars belief.

Were they? We weren't doing any better at the point he left that's for sure.

If you compare our current team with the last 2 teams that got us promoted from this level, I think you'd have to accept we don't have a promotion chasing team.

If I was a Forest fan, I'd be a bit miffed that Swindon grabbed 3 out of the 6 points on offer this season for example.  Player for player they have a better squad than us, as do a good number of teams.  On a good day we can be quite a handful, all other days we feel to me a bit like a Port Vale style team of old, kind of the Middlesborough of League 1.

You lot are having a laugh. I know we love Fitton and all that. But the way this bloke has got us playing is absolute absolute rubbish.

Ive never seen a manager turn a team around from what we were 6 weeks ago to how it is now. There is no way Im going away again until things pick up. We never ever ever went 3 away games without a decent shot under Sturrock.

I thought it was a tough ask getting Malpas in without any of his own backroom staff. It is neither one thing nor another. Sturrock has 3 henchmen whereever he goes. He needs back up or he needs to go.

There is nothing wrong with this set of players. More money on players is NOT the answer. Thats what Fitton said when he appointed Malpas. I dont think its the answer either. We are 7 out of 11 players from having the best team in the league. In my opinion.

Theres a thread lurking somewhere where the majority were saying how pleased they were with the squad we have.  Just cause they're not performing at the moment we have all seen the potential there is.  I guess people need to make their own minds up whether its down to the management or not.............

Good post SW btw.

I think I hung on to a prediction of mid table at best at the start of the season.  based on the 3 we signed and the start of the season I thought mid table would indeed be a good bet with an outside chance if thngs all alligned with right stars etc of a play off effort towards the end.  I don;t see any need to change that and I don't see us having a top 6 side right now, regardless of Manager.

Paynter is a lower league effort man, Ifil a star who is equally shit at times, Aljofree a basic decent hard working defender, Vincent solid but not insspiring etc.  We don't look a patch on the Yeovil team of last year for example, which would clearly be the yardstick if we think play offs is what we should expect.  We clawed our way up in thend last season, why should we expect to be better than more than half of the league we got relegated from only the season before that?

Should we expect more in the long run? Yes, I think so.  We probably have more stable footings than most now, and a mid table squad that can be improved on (not nec at great expense).  If we are not playing better towards the end of this season/start of next, then I'll begin to get a bit fiesty.
