Cheesy just pisses me off the hypocrisy. one minute its "ooh were new in this division, lets settle for consolidation", then its "aaaah we're going out of business, lets make sure we still ahve a club" then its " wooo we have new owners and are going to splash the cash, lets go for the title" we play badly and suddenly everythings shit. grrrrr

dave mate you generally speak alot of sense but you can fuck right off here kiddo, a fucking hammering at home against some pissy bunch of midland inbreds that were in the same league as us last year, that's totally and utterly unacceptable, they deserve all the flak they take after todays result.

lets be honest here, its not as if Walsall are doing badly this season. In the play offs for a reason

er thanks, i think  Cheesy

ive been thread digging, and just found this beauty: http://www.thetownend.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21715&highlight=pre+season

Seems as if the popular consensus is mid table, which we are on course for. Considering the shite we've been through this season the predictions were pretty much spot on. Interesting quote from mystic tails:

We'll do a standard Swindon I think..

1) Start - half decent.
2) Have a terrible October/November
3) Go on a crazy unbeaten run at the start of the year.
4) Followed by a crazy winless run.
5) Indifferent end.

the first three have hapenned. We're half way through the fourth, just need the fifth now!

I notice "Berkshire's Finest" has disappeared since we were pushing the play-offs and Reading started staring back down into the Football League again!

i thought we played really well and were unlucky with the goals. another day and we could have walked away with a 3-0 victory ourselves.

As long as he learns this season, and we have a tilt next year, that's fine with me, think everyone myself included thought money=play offs and it's been proved a hundred times you have to build to it. If however there has been no improvement come October, then that will be the time to think about change

Spot on. Lets see what Malpas can do with pre season training and a transfer window. October would be a good time to review.

worst we've played in about 2 years....

the defence was awful and literally parted and let Walsall through for their goals.

Smith did well to save two of the original shots...but the re-bounds both went to Walsall players with acres of space to tap it in. Not a town player within 10 yards of them.

First goal was so many errors, letting the ball bounce, then needlessly diving in.

We didnt challenge enough when the ball was in the air and we didnt win enough second balls.

Wasn't there today-was it really worse than Brighton?

Yup, as far as I remember Brighton at least had to work for their goals and have some creative input.

we had one shot on target and that was in the 90th minute.

I suppose we looked slightly better going forward today than Brighton, but defensivly we were worse.

A few beers later and i think (hope) that today was a one off bad performance. We are much better than that.

No doubt, we are way better than todays shit performance against Wallsal suggests, so I'm not going to get too lairy. Talk of reaching the playoffs was always bollocks. Too many gaps in midfield and an inconsistent / non existant front line usually= either a relegation season or a boring mid table finish. We'll end up fizzling out in a boring mid table position I think, which is progress of a sort.

Malpas worries me. I think he could potentially do a good job for us - Fitton must have seen something in him to give him the chance to manage us - but he's not done anything to endear himself yet. I get the impression that most are indifferent to him so far, hence the absence of Malpas chants?

He got the job while Byrne and Williams were doing well in temporary charge, so he was up against it from the off. I expected his appointment to move us up a level though and i'm still waiting.

In the big scheme of things he's had no time to do anything meaningful, so I'm not going to slaughter him. He's going to have to win over the doubters soon though.

He could start by insisting that ALL first team squad players stay at the ground to watch matches, regardless of whether they are injured, suspended or dropped. I've lost count of watching non-playing squad players walking away from the ground before kick off on match days this season. If they don't give enough of a fuck to hang around to watch their own team mates play, what message does that send out to the players that are picked, let alone the fans?
