Be a shame if it was the end of his footballing career. He was unplayable when playing for barca and inter, the best striker in the last decade that I have seen. Remember following him on channel4 when he signed for inter and in the first season the defences he terrorised and goals he scored were amazing. Every time he received the ball you expected some brilliance.

When he scored for Brazil against Belgium in the 2002 World Cup, you can see my Swindon Town flag behind the goal...

Real shame, mind you Rivaldo and Romario are still going strong and as he proved at the last World Cup he maybe a bit portly but he can still waddle about enough to hit the back of the net.

All depends on him having the desire to continue and I suspect if he’s not progressing well then he’ll call it a day in the summer.

Talking of fat footballers a few of the player's pics on the official site from the Cheltnumb game have more Chins than the Beijing phonebook and a couple of rather prominent guts poking out although that dodgy shirt doesn’t really help there.

With all this hoohaa over Spurs climbing to 11th after ditching the flab under Ramos  perhaps we should get a gut buster in ourselves.

Good post. he was shit hot in is late teens / early 20's. Whilst he's still the all time top goal scorer in WC finals, injuries have robbed him of the chance of becoming an all time legend up there with the very best. He really was that good.
