Some bloke's discovered a new mammal in Tanzania and despite being a land creature, it's a distant relative of the manatee. Thought you'd all want to know. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7213571.stmI think we should adopt it as the official STFC animal/mascot thing. Much better than a robin. And our nickname could be the "land manatees".

that's no land manatee. In fact, the creature is more closely related to a group of African mammals, which includes elephants, sea cows, aardvarks and hyraxes, having shared a common ancestor with them about 100 million years ago.
