I can think of worse call ups than Kitson.   We have time to experiment before the WC qualifying so might as well give him a go to be honest.  Makes more sense in a friendly thean playing owen up front with Alan Smith or someone equally as mediocre

Beckham shouldnt be anywhere near the team - he's not played a game for almost 3 months FFS!

I hope Beckham doesn't get to play his 100th game because he's old and sold out.

Oh and I don't like him.

Good old english mentality, lets knock em down before they've even started. Like others have said, give him a chance ffs! Its not a bad thing trying new players, i mean look where we got when we stuck with the big name players

Kitson can't do any worse than Defoe who gets into every fucking squad even though he hardly plays for Spurs.

at least kiston plays regular football unlike the likes of Bent, Defoe, Crouch etc.

Still if any striker deserves a call up for England its Gabby Agbonglahor....

Kitson could be alright, End of the day its 2 years to the world cup, get some games under his belt and get coached by the right people etc he could do well. Atleast he plays regularly like DV Says.

i think kitson is a decent player.on current form he deserves to get a call up.
and i dont agree with beckham playing just because its his 100th cap.you should put out your best side imo and bentley is better.
bench for becks

Agree with that, natural goalscorer, decent player. See how he does.

Always thought Bent up front with Rooney playing deeper could work for England.

Bring Becks on as a late sub and job done.

I think Beckham has done enough for this country in the shirt to deserve the honour of a 100th cap during a friendly game. I certainly couldn't begrudge him it. He's been a twat at times but he has shown passion at important times and obviously cares about wearing the england shirt.

McLaren gets hammered for picking the same players, capello casts his net a bit wider and gets hammered! he's only having a look at others in the friendlies, what's the big deal? if he's shit he won;t play again. simple.

I have no issue with a Manager giving a player a go based on the fact they have been in decent form.  It does however show the problem we have at the moment when Bent/Defoe/Kitson/Crouch are some of the best we have to offer.  They might be able to do a job, but they are hardly going to send a shiver down the spine of an opposition Manager at International Level.  Same could be said about most other positions really, it seems only at centre half do we have a few top level players competing with each other for the starting place.

What DV said, it's got to be the kiddy from Villa and then Andy Johnson, on current form.

Fuck me, there's some pace there.

Dv talking nonsense as normal, Bent has played 20 games this season, Kitson has played 22, Crouch has played 24 and Defoe has played 31. Even if you just look at starts he has only started a couple more games and that's because Reading's squad has no way near the depth of Liverpool or Spurs, he would barely play at those teams and crucially unlike the others he does not play in Europe.

On Goals Bent 5, Defoe 8, Crouch 7, Kitson 8. Rooney is the top English scorer with 10 despite being injured for a while. I don't think he deserves a place in the squad yet but if there's a few injuries then maybe.
