"Talking about Jerel Ifil's good performance in the match "If you give him a job to do - a one on one defender - he's the best there is. If we can eliminate the problems from his game, then he'll become a very, very good defender. At the moment we have a very good defender but we could have a top class defender. For a one on one defender, I don't know a better one outside the Premiership. He's had Knight, he's had Fagan, he's had Lita and they haven't had a kick" Hes been awesome in the past two games, when he is one on one with a player he doesn't get beat. When he doesn't have a target looks a bit shakey and makes mistakes, moral of the story, hes a great man-marker

i think when he has a man to mark he has to concentrate more. when not man marking his concentration seems to go

it's a pretty simple thing "alright jerel today you'll be on fagan, just be his shadow, if he gets the ball, take it off him"
much simpler than "today you'll be part of a back four, you have to hold the line, advance and defend as a unit and dont dive in, pass the ball out of defence when possible etc etc etc"

I agree totally that Ifil is at his best when man marking and not worrying about anything else.

Not all teams have a man worth marking, which means you are better off having 4 (or 3) defenders concentrating on other things. I think!

He's had Lita in his pocket...brilliant to watch! That was except for the two glaringly obvious times that he didn't have him in his pocket. Sean got him out of the shit the first time and Matty did the honours the second time.

Jerel is very reminiscent of Jon Gittens.....capable of being awesome, but a mistake waiting to happen.....with the likely loss of Heywood in the summer we must hope for an improvement next season.

They were both "Taxi for Ifil !" moments.

only twice mate... only twice for the amount of times jerel got the tackle in and beat lita to the ball when others wouldn't have got near him. think about it.
