As another born and bred, living and breathing in enemy territory, where did the sympathy come from?  Plastics? The Sky generation in the pub? No, it came from Pox fans, friends and relative strangers, but they know what shit is.

I hate Oxford United with an immature, gloating, burning intensity.  But I won't forget the class of those fans who, knowing the pain, sincerely didn't want us to join them in the gutter.

It is quite depressing knowing how shite Oxford have become in the sense that I can't think when we will actually play them again! Even if we become nothing more than a stable League 1 team I don't expect them to come back and join us within the next 5 years atleast. Sad times in a way.

I one day would love another derby with them, rememnber my first derby on my own at The Old Manor, fucking mental....a rivalry was born that day.  Love em (for the rivalry) and hate them but would rather we often played them.

Worst trouble ive witnessed is Watford Luton about 7 years ago, had a watford lad who played on our sunday team didnt see him for a year after, his name was dilly (not gazzas fat mate) he was on teh pitch and was filmed throwing a 1 corner flag into some luton lads head.  Nasty and foolish with CCTV around.  They loathe each other

I've got a vague memory of someone like reg, maybe it was reg, pointing out that it's (or was) one of the last proper inter-county close up rivalries.

I'm not really sure what I'm getting at, something about being far away and caring but being close and not giving a shit about Liverpool. Or something.

I've never really understood why it's Oxford that became the fierce rivalry (although I'm sure Reg will have a theory).  Read the history books, and it's Swindon/Reading that used to be the #1 rivalry.  Two railway towns not far from each other.  Oxford didn't even appear until less than 50 years ago.

It's not just the Oxford fans who seem to have given up though.  We've had our own rough spell and I'm sure that the rivalry on these forums and elsewhere is much less vitriolic and bitter than it used to be 5 or 10 years ago.  Both sets of fans have had more important things to worry about.  The rivalry isn't what it once was - and maybe we'll see Reading, City or Rovers rise to the 'most hated' spot before long.

I don't really 'hate' Oxford any more.  There's no longer anything there to hate.

If you had the choice of any club to beat in a cup final, who would it be? Mine would be the Pox and I am sure that the vast majority on the TEF would agree.

I would choose the Pox I have to agree. Although City wouldn't be far behind - I guess that comes from knowing City fans though. Rovers and Reading wouldn't even feautre to be honest!

I don't care about City. It's Rovers and Oxford i hate really now. We haven't played City for a few years now so it's fizzing out wheras Rovers is the opposite.

I can't really bring myself to particularly dislike Rovers. All the trouble only ever seems like a few twats on each side whilst the majority seem ok. It always seem like any trouble is more out of convenience then any proper rivalry, you've got to give the hard boys something to do a couple of times a season.

personally i don't give a toss about reading unless we play them, city i have a slight dislike for him, i look down on rovers like an unwanted baby brother and hate oxford.

Reading I am not really bothered about, I just long for the era when we could look down on them, Rovers I always didn't mind until the last couple of years, and always enjoyed the disdain they hold city in, now I'mnone too keen.  I don't really like city, and if they got promoted this season I'd be a bit gutted as they have this mythical big club illusion which promotion to the prem would almost justify.  As for Oxford, now that is a proper local rivalry, don't like the place, the club, any of it.
