I noticed in todays adver that Hammond has said he is waiting for our embargo to be lifted before deciding what to do with cox.

Makes me think we are in pole position to sign him then

I thought that too. Let us have him Nicky, for old time's sake and all those times when Hoddle played you instead of Diggers

Hmmm what was said in the adver was all the right things.

Reading havent offered him a contract
Reading appear to be in no rush to loan/ship him out
We've put in a bid
Cox wants to come back here

Apparently, Brighton and Northampton are interested but he'll choose us over any other League 1 side. The only thing that would bugger us up would be a Championship club (i.e Plymouth) wanting to sign him permanently. Is a striker a priority for them though? Would Sturrock necessarily want to do a permenent deal for Cox?

I think we'll end up getting our man.

I'm still not hopeful because I think somebody will take a gamble on him.  But you never know.

But as a club we can't do any more than bid (a reported) 200k. Any more than that is silly.

from Skysports:

Striker Cox has just returned to Reading following a six-month loan spell at Swindon and the Robins have already tabled a £200,000 offer to take the player back to the County Ground.

Cox has admitted that he would be keen to return to the League One side and is now waiting for the Royals to grant him permission to leave.

Embargo

"I had a meeting with Reading director of football Nicky Hammond the other day. He said no decisions would be made on my future until first the embargo is lifted at Swindon and then towards the end of January," Cox told the Swindon Advertiser

"They obviously want to see what happens with the strikers they have at the club who are currently ahead of me. Although even if one leaves it seems I still won't get regular football.

Right move

"I couldn't stress enough that I want to play football every week and from the meeting it seems as though that won't happen for me at Reading.

"I am more or less waiting for them to tell me to leave now. Until they tell me that I can't make any decision so I don't think it will be until the last week of January.

"It is no secret I loved my time at Swindon and would certainly go back if it was the right move."
