Just ordered a 1gb for my laptop, and it comes tomorrow. I want to fit it my self, but it says i need to "ground" the lap top. What the fuck does that mean?

Dig a hold in the back garden and bury it.

Put it in a quiet room and tell it not to come out for the rest of the evening, no tv and no dinner!

Touch a peice of bear metal to "ground" youself, i.e. remove any static discharge you may have before touching the memory chip.

You should always ground youself before touching computer components although most people don't and it is very uncommon for items not to work though.

Erm, ground the laptop?!?

Shouldn't that be ground yourself, i.e. touch a door handle or something to discharge any static that may have built up.
