I asked on the L&P thing last night when i couldn't get on here, but does anyone have any tips or advice on going to Cuba? I fancy going this year for a couple of weeks, so any help would be great.

My mum and Dad went a couple of years ago and loved it. Great place, lovely people, but poverty stricken and rundown in places (although kept away from tourists so don't worry about it from a holiday perspective).

Try and get one of the old Swindon shirts from when we were sponsored by Castrol, peel off the 'l', and I'm sure you'll be fine.

Went to Cuba in 2005.  Had a great time, people were friendly, beaches superb.  We went to Cayo Coco which I wouldn't actually go back to if we ever returned.  The only reason being that it is a bit isolated.  We flew from Cayo Coco to Havana on an organised trip (takes about an hour although you have to allow extra because security is much tighter than at Gatwick!).  Havana is a special place, one minute you are looking at fine old colonial buildings and the next minute you turn a corner and are in real slums!!  Saw a taxi that was actually two Ladas welded together! There is absolutely no money about for the locals, if you can get a job as a room cleaner within the tourist area you are considered rich because of the tips that are left.  By the way, you could see some STFC kit there, we took some out and gave it to the locals.

Fuck it, didn't even get a pickled onion for ours!!  They were very appreciative of the baseball caps and shirts though!

I'm going to Holquin in August. The resort's called Playa Pequero. 5 star jobbie.

I'm not planning on taking any excurions, it's my honeymoon so I'm just going to be holed up in my room for 14 nights  Tongue
