I often find myself, at home, wondering what to eat for my lunch.
Often, I've nipped down to the local supermarket, or possibly a meatball marinara baguette from Subway, but I am conscious of my health, and try to get a few fruit an veg in each day.
During my last shopping trip, I found myself in the tinned canned aisle. Soup has always been a favourite of mine, but there's only so much mulligatawny soup a man can eat.
So I turned to beans. Heinz beans. Everybody likes beans on toast don't they? Well I do, but I was feeling adventurous, so I grabbed 3 tins, one smokey BBQ, one sweet chilli and one Mexican.
http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z3/pagey123/heinzBakedBeanzSmokeyBBQ.jpgFirst, I cooked up the Smokey BBQ with three pieces of well buttered toast. I was impressed. They had managed to maintain the original bean taste whilst encompassing a pleasant BBQ flavour. I enjoyed them, and would give them 7 out of 10.
Next I cooked up the sweet chilli beans. Again, they were joined by three pieces of toast, well-buttered. It was long before the wife floated downstairs, interested in the sweet aroma. I took my place at the table to chow down, and was instantly joined by a fork wielding female. I knew I wasn't going to get a great deal of this meal, however, the bits that I did manage to get were quite spectacular. My palette experienced the sweetness of the chilli, along with the great taste of the beans. I've since bought two more tins of this stuff. 9 out of 10.
Today was the turn for the Mexican beans. As I poured them into a pan, the difference in colour was immediately noticeable, with a much darker brown look on offer. The aroma hit me immediately, though not unpleasant.
It went down nicely, No complaints to be had, although the taste just wasn't quite up to the previous standards. 6 out of 10.
If anybody else has any recommendations, or feels the need to complain about some sort of food item, please feel free to add it.
