My personal favourite was Bobby Smith even though he got us relegated the 2 seasons preceeding were the best attcking football I have ever seen at Swindon and that includes under Ardilles and Hoddle.
But saying that, the best manager must be Danny Williams for me as he is the only manager to win a major honour at Swindon, the only ones that come close are Ardilles and Hoddle as they both got us promoted to the Premier League.

Ardiles easy.
Took the bunch of fairly average cloggers that Macari had recruited and had trained to play long ball football and, with the single addition of Kers, within one season had got a team pinging the ball about like they were Brazil.
Hoddle's side was good, but to my mind the Ardiles play off winning side played the better football. What's more, even with Moncur and Hazard in midfield, that Hoddle side never really played at it's peak without Glenn on the pitch.
Ok I never understood a word the man said in interview but I could live with that.

Its a tough call between Macari and Hoddle, but the football we played under Hoddle was a joy to watch. So many happy memories. And he was the manager to take us to the promised land. |

it was a toss up between Lou Macari who literally rescued the club from oblivion or Glenn Hoddle who has us playing the most amazing football ive ever seen at STFC.
For football reasons I picked Glenn - some of my best memories ever were under Hoddle

I think it has to be Macari, never really saw many games under him as I was too young and no one to take me, but for what eh done in getting Swindon Town several promotions, getting sacked and then re-employed due to a fan backlash, and he was the one that really got Swindon in the headlines (for on and off the pitch reasons), and I would say without what he done for the club we probably would not be where we are today.
