What's your favourite series/episode?

I have the whole series on my PC and am as yet undecided but Blackadder goes forth is currently a front runner.

'Over the top'.  Ihave just been watching it and General Meltchards (Sp?) moustcache net is a classic.

I never really liked Blackadder until I saw Blackadder Goes Fourth.

But my housemate had the boxset at uni and I think Blackadder II is also very good.

"Beer" has to be one of the best episodes.

Just finished watching that episode and I wonder how many others missed the irony of Baldricks last cunning plan (The ladder was broken).

Edmund: Ah, Melchett -- late, I see, to avoid the early drinking.
Oh, Melchy, you really are a beginner -- you're not even
wearing a pair of comedy breasts!

Melchett: [opens his coat to reveal gold false breasts]
Au contraire, Blackadder...

What's the one with the dictionary??  Blackadder III???

In any case the best Blackadder series without doubt is Goes Forth.  On eof the greatest comedy series ever that was.  The way the whole series builds up to going over the top and then, fade from scene with Blackadder and co running at the hun gun shots all around, to the silence of the poppy fields, sheer brilliance.

I think I may have shed a tead the first time I saw that.

2, 3 and 4 are all great series but my fave is the Blackadder II - Beer.

See the little goblin, see his little feet
And his little nosey-wosey, isn't the goblin sweet?

But the very last episode of Blackadder goes forth was the only comedy program I actually cried at, the ending has to be the best and as you say most poignant ending ever.

I totally agree, one minute you were laughing at the knitting needles up the nose bit and thinking he would actually get the all clear to leave the front, the next it was all over.

We watched the whole series of goes Forth on a school trip to the Somme Battlefields, and whilst it was a bloody funy comedy that last episode kind of put things in context, and having visited the area, it added an extra poignance.
