I wasn't digging or anything by the way!  I do agree though, that with January being so expensive it would be in the interest of both sets of fans if participating clubs could agree a lower charge.

the interview posted by sy with kitson sums the bloke up. a bit odd but a really intelligent and likable guy.

i think that quote is slightly, although not completely, out of context. in the same interview he was saying about how him and kevin doyle were absolutely shattered after the christmas matches and could barely walk.

i think it may be that it's not that he doesn't want to care about the fa cup, but his body can't stand up to it all and you have to make priorities

I can see where Kiston is coming from, as a club the Premiership is worth so much more to Reading.

They arent going to win the thing, one none 'big 4' club has one it for god knows how many years 15? maybe?

Reading being a Premiership club have already played at Old Trafford, Anfield and St James Park loads of times.

Thats the different between Roberts and Kitson.

Roberts dreams of playing the top teams at their grounds, Kiston does play against the top teams at their grounds.

I didn't realise that since 1989 the "big 4" had won it every year except Spurs in 91, and Everton in 95 (Rideout!!).  Spurs v Forest is the only final since 89 not to have Utd, Liverpool, Arse or Chelsea in it!

Never realised that at all.

To an extent I can see where Kitson is coming from but ultimatly its a defeatest attitude.  Reading are never going to win the premier league either but does Kitson give a shit about that? Whats the point in doing anything unless you are odds on favorites to win it in that case ?  We'll all fuck off home and let Man U & Chelsea have a toss up for the domestic double shall we?

Yeah the odds on Reading winning the cup are high, but upsets do happen. It may be 12 years ago but what odds were Everton to win in in 95 at 3rd round stage?

Funnily enough, Reading (in their latest, new & improved incarnation) are exactly the kind of club that could play their way to the later stages of the FA Cup.  They are one of the top 20 sides in the country, so a place in the last 8 would hardly be a shock...and after that, anything could happen.

We had 7500 for the last round against non league opposition. Thats a very good attendance. I rekon it will be about 6500 for Barnet, which again aint bad.

Kitson is a mug though. Because once hes finnished his career he wont have that showpiece medal and he will regret not trying for it.

And if its so great up there in the Premier League why do Reading only take 300 fans to Anfield? Hardly compares to a cup final does it?
