I don't think anyone has mentioned Oxford yet either.  They lost away at Aldershot...just up the road from here.  They always lose it at Christmas, come to think of it.  Only difference this year is they were shite before Christmas as well.

Adi Williams: "right lads, I'm coming on"

[four minutes later]

Adi Williams: "right lads, I'm coming off"

Priceless.

Ref was a tosser.

Something on RS from Fitton about 100 days and low hanging fruit.

That's about it really.

....and if the super duper mega wonderfull Andrew Fitton is reading this (or Jeremy Wray, who got no credit from the crowd today)

SIGN SIMON COX

thanks!

Fantastic performance by Cox today, never seen so much effort and passion in a loan. Fitton, get your cheque (sp?) book out and break the bank for this one!

Commingues my MOM though, was awesome today. so quick on the ball, good going forward and improving defensively.

Spot on.

Commingues did get the official MOM as well.

Hartlepool report on that site that the poolie posted earlier. A very unbiased report I am sure you'll agree.

Swindon 2  Hartlepool 1

County Ground, Swindon
22nd December 2007, 15:00
Attendance: 5875

Hartlepool's awful away form continued with another defeat, this time at Swindon Town

Report
Danny Wilson stuck with the same side that beat Crewe last weekend while Lee Bullock was included on the bench after returning from his loan spell at Bury.

Eddie Nolan was lucky to escape an immediate booking, the on loan defender challenged for the ball with a high foot but the referee let the challenge go.

On 5 minutes Pools won a corner and could have taken the lead. Robbie Elliott drifted the ball in towards an unmarked Godwin Antwi but the defender could only glance the header past the post.

Swindon were more dangerous at the beginning of the match and Barry Corr had a good chance on 10 minutes. Corr layed the ball off to Simon Cox who went on a dazzling run down the wing and played the ball into the box. Corr had made the run into the middle and Jan Budtz made a good save from the strikers shot.

Sofiene Zaaboub went down and recieved treatment while Simon Cox had a good effort from 20 yards. Lee Peacock had a shot go just over the bar as Swindon took the lions share of the possesion.

With half time fast approaching Hartlepool took the lead. The referee awarded a dubious free kick and Robbie Elliott whipped the ball into the box, after a scramble in the box Ian Moore stabbed the ball home.

HT: Swindon Town 0 Hartlepool United 1

Danny Wilson didn't make any changes at the break but did bring Michael Mackay off just 2 minutes into the second half, Ritchie Barker replacing the former Consett man.

Swindon didn't take long to equalise, just 4 minutes into the second half Miguel Comminges played the ball into the box where Simon Cox slotted the ball home.

The home crowd celebrated by singing 'We are Fitton's red and white army' to show their backing for their new chairman who rescued the club from financial ruin earlier this week.

Zaabboub went close on the hour mark but Budtz made a good save and the Pools keeper made a good reflex save to keep out a Lee Peacock header.

The home side won a penalty after Michael Nelson hauled Corr down in the box. The defender had been turned inside out by Corr and he brought him down as he sprinted towards goal. Barry Corr dusted himself down to slot home from 12 yards.

Billy Painter should have made it 3-1 when he shot wide past Jan Budtz while David Foley had a great chance to equalise down the other end. Foley latched on to a long ball and went one on one with the keeper, the younster should have done better as he dragged his shot wide.

FT: Swindon Town 2 Hartlepool United 1

Yet again a good win is followed by a poor defeat, Swindon is a tough place to go but they dominated the match today.

I think fans are getting a bit demoralised with how we are playing and we need to pick up as many points as possible over christmas if opinions are to change.

Well done Ian Moore on getting his 100th career goal, hopefully he can get some more against his old club on Boxing Day.

We're in 13th place now, 5 points from the play offs and 8 from relegation. These next few games could decide whether we're looking upwards or downwards for the rest of the season.

Dont know about anyone else, but the ground did feel different today. Even some of the miserable cunts that sit behind me were happier and joining in with the Fitton chants.

The chant of 'We got our Swindon back' from the town end nearly had me blubbing with pride. Fucking class lads! Cheesy

Nice to hear the Pools report saying we dominated, and taht it was a dubious free-kick, and that it was a penalty!

Hopefully they'll be able to show the same passion at Yeovil. Looking forward to Boxing Day now!

john is supermegasexy.

today was great. an entertaining game of football to mark the start of a new era, an atmosphere before, during and after the game of slight nervousness combined with excitement and optimism.

everyone played well. we won. it was a penalty though a little soft. cox must stay, his celebration spoke volumes. he wants to play football and loves to score goals - nuff said.

we've got our swindon back!

Having not seen the team for nearly 4 years, this was an enlightening game.

Thought we played well overall, solid first half defensively but no real threat from either side. Poor defending from a dubious free kick cost us.

Second half, different gravy. Thought we dominated the game from the kick off. Super goal from Cox, great move and a sublime finish. Didn't really see the penalty decision, but corr took it well.

Most impressed with Commingues and Zaaboub. Thought both played very well. Can JPM actually run with a ball?Huh? Defensively solid in open play, a little nervy against set plays.

If we kick on from that second half performance, we should be sound.

Great atmosphere as well, despite a relatively low crowd.

i had a brilliant time today, although i miss protesting a little bit (we want chicken balti pies!). cox was awesome, JPM had some sublime touches but wasn't good when running, the 'boob was good generally but fucked up under pressure a bit too often for my liking. the minge was great and his balls into the box were genius at times. peacock won everything in the air and vincent was vocal at the back. Jerel was solid as normal.

this is back to a decent squad and winning ways, love it. Beers
