Yes Macca its a new post but... Tax Man is going to wind us up soon

SELL THE FUCKING CLUB NOW
THE Inland Revenue are closing in on Swindon Town as the ongoing takeover farce at the County Ground remains unresolved.
Sources close to the talks have revealed the tax man is losing patience as their £1.9million debt still shows no sign of being cleared.
A winding-up petition is expected to be issued by HMRC by early next week if the current impasse continues, with both parties claiming their innocence as the hold up continues.
Andrew Fitton and Jeremy Wray's consortium looked set to seal their takeover deal on Monday but, three days and countless false dawns later, fans remain frustrated and concerned for the club's future existence.
A winding-up petition from the revenue would spark a snowball effect from the majority of Town's other creditors, and leave the club on the financial precipice.
The revenue have already vowed to be as patient as possible to all people involved in the deal, but as the current negotiations continue to stall, they could see a petition to the courts as their only option.
Fitton's consortium have statements prepared and ready to go, confirming the completion of the conditional deal' but they insist they are still being made to wait by Town's lawyers.
It is also thought they will instantly announce the resignations of board members Sandie Gray and Bob Holt, while revealing the name of the new chief executive.
Sources close to Town's side in the deal though insist the suitors have received all paperwork needed and are equally confused about the continuing delay.
Signing the conditional deal' would allow Fitton & Co to take the reins at the County Ground with immediate effect as they looked to iron out the remaining issues.
These remaining conditions are thought to surround future development rights, with St Modwen needing to approve the agreement at a board meeting.
With the staff at the County Ground expecting to be paid this week, fears are growing they will again have to wait for their money with Christmas just days away.
Meanwhile the Swindon Advertiser's website www.thisisstfc.co.uk was in overdrive with some fans voicing their intention for more protests at Saturday's clash with Hartlepool, if the situation is not resolved.

Too late for that.  Wills' choice now is whether he goes down in history as the man who killed STFC, or the man who was prepared to take it to the brink.  Neither description is flattering or honourable.

Sportsdesk comment :

SPORTSDESK COMMENT: Hurry up and sign or this club will die!
By Steve Butt

JUST what on earth is going on at Swindon Town Football Club?

First the takeover was declared dead, then it was back on again, next it was stalling and now we face a deafening silence as both fans and the media anxiously await a conclusion to this debacle.

Andrew Fitton's multi-million pound consortium are probably right to set no official deadlines for completion, but another week has passed and the club appears no closer to salvation.

advertisementCoventry City saved their future in just 24 hours, securing new ownership and funds, so why can Swindon Town not do the same?

Of course this is the County Ground soap opera we are talking about here, with uncertainty an all too familiar plot line, but even for Swindon Town this is getting ridiculous now.

One party wants to sell, the other wants to buy, AND the most absurd thing is we are only talking about a conditional contract' - how long does it actually take to sign this bit of paper?

I cannot believe the lawyers would purposely delay the deal, especially when the Inland Revenue are poised to wind the club up, so why the agonising delay?

Time is not a luxury this club has at its disposal right now so decisive action is paramount.

Until now the Inland Revenue and Town's creditors have remained amazingly patient but time is fast running out.

Even some die-hard supporters are calling for the club to be wound up just to sort this mess out once and for all.

On the pitch Town are still without a manager and quickly slipping into the League One relegation battle.

And off it there is nobody in charge of the day-to-day running of the club.

Wages are due and people's livelihoods are in jeopardy, not just the future of Swindon Town Football Club.

Minutes, hours and days are now critical, NOT weeks and months.

It is a matter of life or death for this football club.

There is a shinning light at the end of what has been a long, dark tunnel, but even that light is now starting to fade.

Don't let this light go out after all this time.

Next week will be too late, the time for decisive action is right now.

Fitton's consortium are just what the doctor ordered, but this deal needs to be signed immediately.

So for everyone concerned... PLEASE SORT THIS MESS OUT NOW ONCE AND FOR ALL!

I think I am in your queue Gaz, my interest in football in general has been tarnished by this whole thing.

Funny thing is if stfc goes it would be out of the blue for national press as they only give a monkeys about the prem. Espn have entered the race for the prem tv rights and its expected it could go for 2 billion you would like to think some of it would filter down but it wont.

If we go bust I think the new club should be called Locomotive Swindon. But I shouldn't really have a say because I'd only bother to watch them when they played Bitton away or something.

I've said it before but it bears repeating:

To me this says nothing new, just speculation. - That could have been written any day within the last two weeks. For all we know, the winding up petition has already been issued and is awaiting publication in the London Gazette (if they filed on the 7th, when it looked like the deal was dead)

As to the deafening silence, you'd think that rather than being ominous, it was lesson learned from Monday and Tuesday's debacle. In terms of communication, they're damned if they do, and damned if they don't
