"A lot of people phoned to wish me a speedy recovery and I thank them all. I have spoken to Cantona, Thuram, Henry, Vieira. Even some people who I don't know and who I have not heard of before, people like Dion Dublin" - Djibril Cisse

Jimbo I dont mean to be rude here but I think you are having a doogle from father Ted moment. To me that makes sense surely it means that he hadnt heard of Dion Dublin before but now that Dion dublin has phoned him he has now heard of him so therefore can say so.

Let me explain more thoroughly it is all to do with time when an event happens we dont know that it is going to happen until it has happened. Then afterwards in the future we know about it coz it has happened. So in the present we can talk about not knowing that it was going to happen in a way that it has happened because it happened in the past.

Hope that clears up your confusion Jim Smiley

It was in the Guardian's fiver section. http://football.guardian.co.uk/fiver/

That was the point he was trying to make but in writing it just sounds like he's saying he's never heard of Dion Dublin. smartass

The Guardian doesn't tow a political line particularly......its regular writers are a mixture of many different viewpoints....for example George Monbiot, would be considered radical green, whereas Simon Hoggart might be considered one nation Tory, and Roy Hattersley old Labour.

Largely, though it would be considered anti racist, pro feminist, internationalist, and pro democracy.
