Its easy to reel of names that didnt make it but when you are in charge of Swindon Town paticularly at the time he was in charge where he had zero support from the board you have to take chances on players,he can have had no more than couple of hundred quid to offer people in wages which is exactly why he picked up the likes of Dykes and gave them a shot.

My thoughts exactly. King will live fondly in my memory, as he worked wonders under massive constraints. He may have bought in shakes and dykes and few others, but he did only give his gambles one year contracts.
Okay, tactically not the best manager, but often the football was exciting. I can't recall any games since he left where we have gone 2 or 3 down and come back to win or draw?
You gotta love that. Some of my favourite games were when Kingy was ours.
Still he was a cunt though. In a lovable "oochee-koochee" way.

i liked kingy's annual non-league punts. none of them turned out any good but ben martin, darren dykes and lloyd opara must have thought all their christmas' had come at once. when i used to get to the ground early to do the scoreboard, kingy would always be wandering around in his flip flops. if the weather was nice he'd sit at the bottom of the arkells with a cigar. now that's football management

All managers at this level are prone to punts on non-league players though...
