This has been on the cards for ages!  It's not really that big an issue, just don't speed then you don't get caught!  I drive this way loads and it won't bother me in the slightest!  Just have to learn to live with it and leave a few extra mins early thats all!

Whilst I agree with your sentiments Titch, the fact is nowadays it's safer going 80 mph, then it was to go 70 mph 20 years ago. The speed limits need to be reviewed to reflect the amount of work the car industry has done, safety wise.  I would be interested to see the accident record of Britain compared to Germany where the limits are more liberal.

I travel down the m4 everyday to bristol to work. I've done it for the last two years and have ever only been stuck in traffic due to accidents four times...more likely than not its driver error/iresponsibility than speed.

Its just a way of generating money....

I totally agree they do need reviewing but until they are we just have to live with it really!  Gives me more time to listen to music in the car and more likely to get home that bit later so the Mrs has already done the dinner and i don't have to help!  Wink

The autobarns are alot less busy than our motorways, so you can't make a realisitic comparison.  One interesting thing I was told by a german though, is that because they are allowed to drive as fast as they like on the autobarns, they generally respect the speed limits elsewhere.  How true that is I don't know.
