Bought the Inter away strip today (mainly to wind up my Scottish flat mates!). Its a centenary Strip but is there some relevance to the red cross on the front?

I'm sure one of the Milan teams was started by an English man, although thought it was AC. Maybe it was Inter?

AC Milan was founded in 1899 by English immigrants.

Some members disagreed that only British players could be a member of the club and therefore they founded a new club with the obvious name, Internazionale.

Inter used to be the right-wing orientated club (hence the nickname 'bauscia' which means 'nouveau riche') while AC Milan had more working class members (nicknamed 'casciavit' meaning screwdrivers).
