at least that's the headline that normally accompanies such an article...

from the adver:

"I am under contract at Leyton Orient and I still have a big job to do here. People know my thoughts about Swindon but like I said I am Orient manager.

"If Swindon were to make an approach for me they would have to make it to my football club.

"It is a great job for someone though. Having said that I think sorting out the takeover should come first, then finding a manager.

"It is flattering to be thought of and it is flattering to hear some fans are suggesting me. Hopefully someone can help Swindon back up the top where it should be."

he's ruling himself out in the politest possible way.

good dialogue with andrew fitton though:

"I have an ideal profile of what the new manager should be and have two or three candidates in mind, but I don't know whether they would be interested.

"It does not have to be a big name, far from it, but in the end we would not want to risk appointing someone who is inexperienced.

"A track record is needed and we all know there are not that many managers around who have that winning quality. It is something we would rather not have been dealing with."

"I think empathy is important but I don't think we would go along the lines of bringing someone inexperienced in.

"If there is a former player with a good track record and experience then that would be appealing.

"It is funny though if you look at the past, how many former players have returned to be successful managers? There are exceptions though.

"I don't think compensation would be a problem because failure comes at a price. We want someone who is going to stay for a while and who can get the club into the Championship and keep them there."

this is the first time that fitton has said what his aim for the club would be: the championship.

i am happy with that.

Ruling himself out? I'd say it's quite the opposite. Not too dissimilar to what Sturrock said.

I'm thinking that as well Tails. He's almost saying "Sort the takeover out and i'm interested. I'm Orient manager so your going to have to approach them first though"  Cheesy

Let's face it, if he was gonna rule himself out he would have said so. I think he'd be interested in hearing any offer... Not that he'd actually come but I wouldn't surprised if he ended up coming for talks.

That's if the takeovers completed.

Ling had a column in Tuesday's Racing Post and he seems to be a bit hacked off with the level of Orient's support.
Couldn't find it online but this is what it say's

“We had 4,156 come to see us beat Cheltenham at the weekend and 200 of those came with the opposition.
That’s fewer than 4,000 locals cheering us on. It’s frustrating because my chairman, Barry Hearn, has tried any number of drives in schools and community areas but we just can’t get them through the gate.
There were 6,200 at home to Millwall last Tuesday of whom 1,600 were from Millwall. So that means 4,600 were notionally supporting us. So where have the missing 600 gone between Tuesday and Saturday?
I’m not knocking the diehards, the ones who come every week. They are the lifeblood, but we are slogging away at the top of the league, playing some good stuff, and we still can’t get them through the turnstiles.”

Aren't they potentially off to the Olympic Stadium post games?

Be like throwing half a dozen up that Widdicombe one and still not hitting the sides.

This is the third ( and last ) time i am going to say this.
I have been told that if Fitton does get in, Ling will follow.
My Source.......a friend knows someone at the club. Not quite sure how they know this info though.

Fitton and Ling would be great combination. Orient were best footballing side at CG this season. Should mean we get back to decent football and not the long ball rubbish we have witnessed over many seasons. OK Wise and Sturrock were successful in lower leagues but standard of football hasn't been that good. Warning - I may be too optimistic but I sense matters might be turning in our favour - about bloody time to.

ps - expect rant from Fred and many others as all my posts seem to get!!!

What, twice? You're a brave man.

I reckon she'd be as tight as gnat's arse, though - unsurprisingly, she's still intact.
