It was a breach of protocol/procedures. In any case the data should have been strongly encrypted and thus unusable to Joe Public. |

It was a breach of protocol/procedures. In any case the data should have been strongly encrypted and thus unusable to Joe Public. And what the hell kind of security procedure allows a junior official to even be able to be in the position to dump an entire database to CD to hurl off into oblivion, encrypted or not? Leaving aside the question of quite why the NAO would need the full extract including all personal details anyway. |

They are not even sure if it was sent to the right address so they could be anywhere; they've been searching for 2 weeks and can't find them so not much chance of them turning up anytime soon. |
