Just got back, pretty dull game but hey, we're through.
I was disappointed with the line up: peacock and comminges aren't wide men and again, I thought Sturrock was dreadful. BUT...
Pook was awesome I thought, and zaboub played well again,. Corr lead the line well, paynter looked awesome when he came on - looked a different class.
Thought Tozer was poor, lost a load of headers against their short and stubby centre forward, although he got better as the game went on. Our defence was never convincing and their goal was a cock up of mass proportions, thouhght zaboub to blame, but not sure if he had a call from Brez? Brez's kicking was good, but still looks shaky...
Highlight was two fans watching the game on the hill - pulled a mooney and then got carted off by the old bill!
Poor - being told to go from one place to another to pick up tickets.
also good were our fans' bundles on the pitch when we scored, well funny!
roll on round two, but let's field a stronger team next time please.

yeah, they had enuff chances to score in the first half, and it would have been a different game then. and I don't pay £20 to watch an experimental team.
we won, is what matters, but it wasnlt great to watch. and it was frickin cold too.

does it matter who plays as long as we win? It matters who plays SO THAT we win. In PS's words, post match, some may have needed a "wee spanking on the bum" and a cup game is possibly better to do this than a league game in the greater scheme of things. I'd hope that the point has been made now and there will be no need to change almost 50% of the team, injuries/suspensions notwithstanding, and we can look forward to a settled side with players in their optimum positions.

you got ripped off if you paid £20, tickets were only £15.
i thought the game overall was poor and we struggled against wycombe at times but the quality shone through in the end with two good finishes.
pook ran the game today, even when he was stuck out on the wing at times he was heavily involved - best i've ever seen him play. agree about tozer, would rather have seen blackburn. sturrock jnr was poor, corr struggled with the pace, comminges was rightfully hauled off at half-time.
pleased with the win though, oxford next please
those two town fans on the hill are on this forum, won't say who though!

I don't care who plays if we win!
I thought we did ok apart from the odd defensive lapse. It was far from our best performance but we exposed Wycombe and our quality shone through in the end.
And the reason I'm not too concerned about the defending is that Vincent, Ifil and Nicholas were all out, and Smith was just back from injury.
Agree about Pook, he had a great game

what did your yank friend think of the game and atmosphere r4e? Obviously he didn't think the quality was great but he enjoyed the game! And I think the whole 'small ground, FA Cup 1st round' thing was what he was there to see and that's what he got! Hopefully we'll get Oxford in the 2nd round - would be a few more than 3000 there for that one!
