if you are after just a head down for the night i recommend the northern hotel, its about £10 a night, basic as fuck but its above a pub and a club and you get free entry to the club if you are staying there.

this is recommened only if yuu want to just go there and get pissed. there is no air conditioning in the rooms.

Is that the only club in the place Mex on the right as you eneter the main strip heading to the beach?

I had several of my most drunken nights ever in there and had 2 Canadian birds and 3 Leeds Uni students all to myself in our room.

Nimbin for the day is a must Juddie.

Byron Bay's fucking ace!!  I went in 2002, can't remember what hostel I stayed at.  We ended up there after doing the Andos Tour (bit like the Oz Experience but about 10 times better).

So if you're in Cheeky Monkeys on a Thursday night and a group of people (lead by a fifty year old bloke) start off the dancing that'll be Ted, the most Aussie Aussie I have ever met in my life - complete legend!!!

Check out the sand man too, some of his designs are top notch (if he's still there).

Oh my god Byron Bay is the best, we stayed at Holiday Village Hostel.

Hostel wise Id say the Arts factory - best by a mile and you can stay in Teepee things on boardwalks!

Cheeky Monkeys brings back memories - albeit not many, easy to pull when your hostel is opposite!  Cheesy

Make sure you go the day tour to Nimbin!

Not really even past first base Cheesy I squandered the lot and opted for the cheap booze and bad Nimbin skunk.

I loved Byron especially the beaches, pies, bongo playing Abo's by the beach and the lighthoooose.

Whatever you do make sure you catch a film (even if it's a bad one) at the arts factory cinema. You'll understand when you get there.

We stayed at Belongil Beachhouse - no frills, wood floors etc, but v relaxed atmosphere (don't think they do anything else round Byron) and easy access to belongil beach where you won't find a stitch of clothing on anybody

There was even one bloke, lying starkers, with his laptop out taking business calls saying 'I'm working from home today' -

Its a very unique place.
