I get a bit pissed off when people go on about footballers wages.
The old argument that nurses, doctors, police, soldiers, etc, etc don't get anything like it is a bit stupid, maybe if 70'000 people paid to see an operation they'd get more.
It's a free market and they get what their business thinks they're worth.
The lucky bastards! Key workers should get more. My mrs is a nurse and she gets paid pittance for what she does. She works in SCBU, and has been to uni for 4 years. She saves life's. Surely she worth more than 19k a year?? my mrs is also a nurse working on EAU. i'm on 10k a year more than her and i work 9 - 5 at a desk. totally underpaid and undervalued

I'm not denying that key workers deserve more, but they all knew the score when they were training so they dont really have anyone to blame but themselves.
The trouble with paying one group of key workers more is that all public sector workers start going for similar increases, and before you know it taxes are going up again

It's all Trevor Francis's fault. First million pound transfer. It's Jimmy (the chin) Hill's fault. He was the one who campaigned for the end of player's wage capping.

I agree with Sippo. We get paid fuck all in the Fire Service. When you're out on a shout that's fair enough. But let's be honest, other than that if you're not washing the Fire Engines or training during the day, you're being paid for playing snooker or cards. And what other emergency service gets to 'work' nights and sleep all their shift if they're not called out ? I have total respect for what you do and I'm not having a go here, just giving it some perspective.
