Giants could destroy dolphins no worries. Might be different if the Dolphins could form an alliance with some manatees. But generally dolphins are a bit overrated.

Dolphins would win easy, they're very intelligent animals you know and most giants are pretty stupid, it would be kind of like David and Goliath I imagine.

surely it would depend where the battle took place, dolphins wouldn't stand a chance on land

I don't know, they are very clever. I imagine they would build some kind of mobile sea world that they could live in whilst on land. I think it would be fairest if there were home and away legs, the giants would struggle in water unless it was quite shallow or they are particularly huge. I think dolphins have about a 2 to 1 edge.

I think the Giants would win. All they'd have to do is some large scale tuna fishing, which, considering they're giants, would be fairly easy.

Some of the hits these fella's take mean the protective gear they wear in necessary.
I like US Football although I haven't seen much this season due to not having Sky Sports. It's a good game once you get into it.

No they don't Macca. The average rugby tackle is an art form, rugby players know where to tackle and injury threat is reduced because of this.
American footballers don't care where they hit their opponent, head collisions etc mean that helmets are necessary in the game.
A lot of rugby players now wear padding anyway, I wouldn't say they're soft.
