bowden was like a crazy uncle. you can't help but sort of like him... Agreed. I vaguely remember seeing him at the Cheltenham away game as he was going into the exec entrance. I randomly shouted "Mike! - Mr Whippy!" in my drunken state, fully expecting him to ignore me and carry on into the stadium. He actually turned round and came out for a chat. Fair play to him for that, I can't imagine Bob Holt (for example) doing anything like that. That was fucking ace.................we were pissed as cunts weren't we ! Fair play to the old soak |

I think I can say without fear of encroaching the all-new libel-friendly TEF that Bowden was a cock of the first order and a nasty piece of work to boot. He may have made some token efforts at grandstanding and doing the "We're all mates together" bit, but that was all it was. Well rid of. Fully agree. I had heard some stories from reliable sources of his time at npower. He is not the sort of person we want at the club. Good riddance. |

Judged on that basis, Bob Holt is a paragon of everything a board member should be as to be fair to the man he's always been willing to talk to fans. However, the value/credibility of the information they both imparted renders it a gesture, nothing more. If we were talking about a board member who was willing to listen to fans, and answer questions fully and honestly, I could see your point. Martyn Starnes does that to some extent (ie insofar as he is able to do), Bowden was just patronising and wanted to be loved. |

Fortunately I have never had the (mis)pleasure to talk to Bob Holt, so I can't really comment on that. However I have spoken to Mike B and yes he was slightly patronising and kind of aggressive in a way but having wasted 30 minutes of his life talking to an angry group of football fans I say fair play to the bloke.
