Swindon Town FC is in talks with other interested parties as a takeover deal with a Portuguese company falters.

The club said Sir Seton Wills, its major shareholder, had accepted an offer from Best Holdings, but that the transaction has not yet been completed.

It added that the board was still hopeful the deal would be completed.

But, in a statement, the club added: "The majority shareholders have opened dialogue with other interested parties."

On Monday night, some 150 angry fans protested at the club's home game against Cheltenham Town.

The protest was in response to negative newspaper reports surrounding club finances.

On Wednesday afternoon a club spokesman said it had no further comment on the matter but added a statement would be put on the club website in due course.

Think that speaks volumes about the accuracy of that report.
