Northwich Victoria are under threat of going out of business as they face a winding-up order in the High Court.
The petition, brought by
HM Revenue and Customs over unpaid taxes of over £350,000 will be heard on 17 October.
Chairman Mike Connett recently said that he is looking for a buyer for the Blue Square Premier strugglers.
He engaged Manchester-based corporate recovery specialists Begbies Traynor to speak to interested parties and try and put together a rescue package.
Managing partner Paul Stanley told BBC Sport: "The club is still looking for an investor to come in.
"If there is an investor out there or anybody interested they should contact Mike Connett at the club."

BBC Sport understands there has been some expression of interest in a potential takeover but nothing concrete has developed.
The Vics need a promise of substantial investment to satisfy the court that they can meet their commitments to the Revenue or face the threat of going under.
The club's Supporters' Trust already appears to be fearing the worst and is discussing the prospect of reforming and starting a new Northwich club at a lower level next season.
The Vics were one of the founder members of the Conference (then known as the Alliance League) in 1979 and remained at the top level of non-league football until 2005 when they were relegated for a breach of rules.
Connett had taken control of the Vics in November 2004 and owns the club's ground, where Manchester United play their reserve team games, and surrounding land.
Under the guidance of manager Steve Burr, Northwich won the Conference North title in 2006 and finished 13th in Conference National last season.
However, the Cheshire club has been on a downward spiral since the departure of Burr in the summer and have won only two points this season to sit bottom of the table.
Veteran striker Dino Maamria is holding the reins as the club's third manager of the season, following Neil Redfearn and Paul Warhurst, and crowds at the Victoria Stadium have at times dipped below the 500 mark.
