How different is our squad now though Stef?

I don't think Iffy is a good manager but the team he got was clearly a relegation -candidate team

iffy inehrited a poor team. a very very shit team.he was given little chance of improving the side.

iffy didn't get us relegated, the team from the players to the coaching staff got us relegated.

Well at the start of the season under Andy King, everyone thought we had a potential playoff chasing team.

Thorpe and Cureton upfront seemed a decent pairing.  Thorpe ended up being shite, whilst Cureton done the business once given an oppurtunity.

Looking back at that season, Swindon were probably a relegation - candidate team from the start.  However the same could be said about 6-7 other teams.

The difference between your Paul Sturrocks, Dario Gradi, Johnson (from Bristol City), to your Onouras is that they have the tactical nouse and ability to make their teams hard to beat and get good results away from home.

If Onoura was in charge of our current Swindon side, we'd probably be relegated or just scrape releation

He was given the same oppurnities as most managers in lower leagues - the loan market

That's a completely empty argument, if Iffy was in charge we wouldn't have this team...

Anyway, what's with all the Iffy bashing?  So we went on loan to the bottom division, we got to see some grounds we'd never seen before and we bounced straight back up.

If we'd stayed up we'd probably have a worse team now than we have got.

The guy is a good bloke, he wasn't really up to the job but that doesn't really matter now does it?

No what i meant to say is,  if Sturrock left Swindon today, and Onoura then became in charge of the team, then i'm pretty confident we would be at the lower reaches of the table come May

in a strange way 05/06 was a pretty interesting season for me, went to plenty of away games, the fans felt closer than they are now and nearly everyone was behind the team an dthe manager.

I think people thought play offs because we had our proven goalscorer in Cureton. Trouble is the little shit didn't really want to play for us. Iffy had balls to let him out on loan and fair play. Just like Sturrock had the balls to let Weston leave (which I still think is a bit wrong).

Johnson had a good side who should never have been candidates for relegation and so the final table proved. But for a while they did shit. Like losing to us at the CG.

I suppose the results against Leeds and Orient don't count for much do they?

He took an average, team down. we had plenty of chances to stay up but his negative tactics took us down. I rember he said he would play our strongest team at City away, so up front we had a 16 year old (who played very well) and some shite that couldn't score for Aldershot. And who was on the bench, our top scorer

hmmm Lukas was playing very well at the time...

Plus our top scorer was in Swansea

there's not so much of the behind the scenes stuff going on though, we were all pretty much solely concentrated on the team and football. things now seem rather fractious, people arguing amongst themselves.

not seen anything like donny away though

agreed, boards fault

didnt get rid of King in the summer and bring in a new manager and give him a chance to get his own team in

went for the cheap option with Iffy

Sold our best player from under him mid-season
