Mmmmm, possibly Bristol City at home, early 80s when they took to ripping up the terraces and chucking them at Shrivvy Road Town fans.

A particularly dull end of season 0-0 I think, like that's an excuse.

The game v Rovers that season was even worse....it was the game where the terracing stancions were ripped from the concrete and used to batter out the cladding at the back of the Shrivenham Road....meanwhile random scraps were breaking out even in the Arkells.....hails of concrete were lobbed back and forth between the fans on either side of the fence.

A bit after that, I had reason to be treated to a tour of the insides of the Fleming Way police station and ended up somewhere on the top floor....to my amazement it was a sort of trophy room, where the walls were plastered with pics of OB battering heads, amongst the mayhem that kicked off that day.  Very strange.

Think the Rovers game this season, if it gets played might be tasty.

I don't....I recall one game where they had a bit of a go on the pitch at the end of the game, but it came to nowt.  The PO game (we've not played them since) was quality.....in some big boozer in Wembley High Street beforehand, one half red one half blue...both singing, then hand shaking at the end and best of luck stuff as it should be.

Then I must be dreaming Reg, because I remember everyone running for safety. I'm sure it was Leicester!

Think you must be....old skool trouble, had largely died down by the late 80's...those were the days of fences, reduced capacities and membership schemes...the TE wasn't the place to be as you could see fuck all due to fencing to the roof....the membership scheme could allow OB to eject over 200 fans v Oldham and confiscate their cards.  You'd get the odd skirmish, but nothing serious.

That Leicester game was much ado about nothing - they ran on the pitch and looked to get in the Shrivvy - about 20 Swindon lads stayed and it all died down.
Worst at Swindon was OUFC when we won when the smoke bomb was thrown in the goalmouth and we scored the winner. The Magic was unbelievalbe that day - cop card driving into groups of fans - dogs off the leash.
Away from home, Gillingham in 80 was bad. City when we stopped them in the play offs was fairly unhealthy. Any trip to Boro.

Reg 'this rarely happens double time' I have to disagree with you (rare) AND agree with Dell (likely as rocking horse plop) but he is right. Leicester away when we had 2 sent off it all kicked off outside when they knocked over a flimsy crash barrier between the 2 exits, some of them even got up inside our exit stairs. It was still going off in the streets around the ground 20 minutes later, saw several Town cars smashed up and a group of about 15 Leicester running from about 6 of our more serious.

oes anyone else remember the proper Shrivvy road characters like Dum and Dee, Wolfy and Lip with his lock knife ?

The original point was about Leicester at the CG....can't comment on the away game, wasn't there.
