its completely ridiculous that he's under pressure at spurs, a perfect example of the short-termism of top teams nowadays. he's a more than competent manager who has transformed spurs from a mid table team to one who are fuming if they're not 4th in his time there. give him one more season and his squad will be pretty damn solid.

No it is not. He is a manager who has no defensive capabilities at all.The attacking options he had last year would have been good enough for this season band they were desperate for defensive options.Instead he spends £40m and not a penny of that on defenders, he deserves all the criticism he gets in my opinion.

He's only spent 40 million. And yet he is doing a shit job. Nothing strange about him being under pressure at all.

they have a squad full of youngish players and he has put the money into these, who possibly may have a good future - if they do Spurs will do well if not, well its obvious. But football is not a long term thing usually for managers a few bad results and cheerio. A new manager would then break up the team, thus equal wasted money on such players
I don;t think Jol is a very good manager.

He has the best record of any spurs manager in the past 20 years based on percentage of matches won. Also Spurs have finshed 5th the last two seasons.

martin jol is not in charge of transfers. the director of football (damien commolli) is, both incoming and outgoing. a number of these signings (assou-ekotto, rocha, zokora, for starters) are not rated by jol at all, yet he has no option than to play them.

So your saying he was probably not allowed to sign a defender then, why does he want to stay so bad if he cant sign a defence

He did sign that Kaboul from a French Club in the summer.  Hes supposed to be the best young french defensive prospect.  Only saw him in there European game and he looked alright.  FWIW I think Jol is a good manager with a good squad and I think they will come good this season if he is given the time.

I don't thin he has to worry, the Machine that is Chelsea is under real pressure and the wheels may well have come off their title chances with Mourinho gone.

I think he'll get top 4 at the expense of Chelsea... That'd be funny.
