I'm trying to read 'Porno' by Irvine Welsh. A tad difficult to follow because of the thick Scot's accent (Even when written). I think that I might give up soon.

I also read Mr. Nice recently, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It's a bit slow to start with and so a few people don't seem to get far with it but I perservered and it picked up alot. Fascinating chap Howard Marks.

what i like about "mr nice" is that howard marks has spent the majority of his life ridiculously caned, but still has sufficient recollection to go into the level of detail he does in that book.

very impressive.

also, there is talk of a film adaptation of porno.

sufficient time has now passed, they are just waiting for the original 'trainspotting' characters to all be available.

someone recommended a book to me a similar thread a while ago, i bought it off ebay for a quid and it was really good, i think it was called Kolymsky heights or something.

I was just about to recommend that book, to anyone one that would listen, for the thousandth time.  Oops

It's a superb book; one of my all time favourites. I think it was me that recommended it and feel honoured someone else has finally read that book and enjoyed it.

All irvine Welsh books are written in the dialect, persist with tehm and you will be rewarded as they are excellent reads.  I'm just finishing the Bourne Identity, a good read and might persuade me to watch the film now.  Then I've the choice of Mark Billingham maccabre crime thrillers or the second Mark Haddon book.  Anyone who gets the chance to read the non-footbal factory books by John King shoudl, they make a good read.

Stephen Fry has written a few decent books. I particularly like that one. I'm afraid it does make both of us gay though. Whether we like it or not Cool
