Sorry not true. Yes he's a striker so needs to score goals but he's also on the pitch as part of a TEAM. If this means defending then thats a big part of it. If you start with that argument Robbo and Sofe are wingers whose job is to cross the ball so presumably they don't need to track back and help the full backs then?
But the point is PS has often said our strikers aren't in the box enough to get on the end of crosses so by that token Peacock is in totally the wrong place if he's defending his own 18 yard box...

I see your point, but he isnt out of position because he wants to, because he's lazy or because he doesnt have a clue. Its because he is there doing someone elses job for them.
