fuck knows?but suspect late night pubs may have taken its toll on the place.
got some great memories of the brunel rooms,pilled up on a friday and pissed up on a saturday back in the day.pulled birds had fights and made friends in there.

I work in the pub industry and I know Brunel is just a rumour right now, The venue has been sold and the new owners have held the last Kandifunk last night and the last hed kandi is 26 August
Apartments I heard is moving to Old Town which is better anyway. i hate the bottom of town.

It reminds me of a story and explains why I fucking hate Brunel and the previous Reid owners.
In my more troublesome days i got arrested for smashing up the toilets.
The arrest was justified, as the toilets were pretty smashed up, and i got caught in the act (i had a piece of door in my hand). However, i did very little of the damage, but because i got caught, i got the blame for everything.
It was fucked up and i blame the pigs as well. Reason being there was blood in the toilets from the person who had totalled the toilets, like a trail, i had no cuts. I admitted i just kicked some pre-damaged doors through for fun and ripped some wood off them. I knew it was wrong, but i was drunk and it seemed fun, afterall the toilets were trashed!
In my interview i explained that i couldn't have punched up everything and left blood on the items smashed up because my knuckles were fine. The police decided that my knuckles were red enough to have done the damage therefore it was me that was responsible for all the damage! (what the fuck, no blood you stupid cunts)
So they brushed this fact under the carpet and pursued with prosecution much to The Brown Hole Rooms delight. I whole heartedly put my hands up and even conversed with Brunel over the damage i did, i offered payment for the doors i "finished off" which they rejected.
They sent me letters asking for extortionate sums of money for 'the damage i had done' to save my arse and court etc. They went to the papers and everything. They "wanted the book thrown at me" and "to make an example of me". Cunts.
Anyway, somehow, someone, about 1 week before court, stood my ground or saw sense and the case was no longer going to court and i wouldn't see criminal proceedings bought against me.
I went to the cop shop and got a caution, job done... Well, not quite!
The Reids, obviously annoyed by me not ending up in court, started sending me letters, they now accepted my offer of new doors and were extremely rude and threatening in all correspondence. Their letters went in the bin and i treated them with the same disdain they extended to me. They can fuck off and i hope they lost money when they sold that shit hole.

I hate the bottom of town as well. But Apartments is one of the reasons. At least other places around town have the dignity to let themselves be scummy. The apartments is a bar of lies, and I hope it doesn't move up to Old Town and ruin the aceness. |
