He's just an old man who's stuck in hiding, Al Qaeda isn't that much of an organised terrorist group anymore. Thanks to our invasion of iraq it's become more of an ideal. And the fact we now call any arab based terrorist group Al Qaeda,  or even more vaguely "connected with Al Qaeda", just leaves the public in a complete sense of confusion.

Some big SPECTRE organisation in an underground volcano with Bin Laden stroking a cat and planning suicide bombs doesn't exist. Although I wish it did. He'd then have my full support and I'd probably sign up.

My favourite ever newspaper article was one in the Mirror during the first couple of weeks of the Afghan war, where they included a detailled diagram of Bin Laden's secret underground lair in the Tora Bora mountains. It was one of those little cut away pictures showing all these little rooms and tunnels with little bearded blokes sitting on their bunk beds with AK47's leaning against them, an armoury full of guns and bombs, kitchens, bathrooms the lot,(although sadly no monorail).

A fantastic piece of total speculation. The troops picked their way across all of that mountain range, blew up bits of it that "looked suspicious" and didn't find so much as a hole in the ground and a packet of funsize mars bars.

All very dissappointing.
