Town boss Paul Sturrock has bolstered his strikeforce with the arrival of Billy Paynter from Southend United, who has put pen to paper on a three year deal.

Well, I'm well happy with the two permanent signings - will have to see about the kiddie, but I'm sure Luggy knows what he's doing. Good man!

WOW, this is fucking ace. I'm very very happy.

Everyone who was being super negative has ended up with egg on their faces.

Has Bart issued a response yet?  :D

I must say over the course of the last few days Bart has given me massive pleasure. To be proven wrong numerous times, publicly, is beautiful, not so i can attempt to belittle him, but because him being wrong means the club are doing something good.

Good stuff (hopefully). I can't beleive i am saying this but do we have 1 striker too many now ? Smiley

Corr, Sturrock, Mohammad, Arietta, Cox, Paynter...I guess one is on loan.

The JPM signing is the one that suprises and excites me most. The other 2, well they may be brilliant but they are not players I have seen play.

Certainly happy with the 2 permanents, and we'll see about the loan signing.

Looking forward to seeing them all play!

Pity Fatbury left for Corfu before all this transfer activity, his "sauces" would surely have given us the lowdown 12 hours earlier!

Billy is a real old skool centre forward.....he's a big lump.    I recall his last (I think) visit to the CG with PV on a wet Feb Tuesday night 04/05.....we always seem to play Vale when its wet windy or both.

We were one up through Trust player Proctor, Billy came off the bench,  muscled his way through our back line and then hopelessly spooned the ball over the bar.....suspect that may sum him up....a real handful, but not a particularly good finisher.

I'm relieved that Sturrock has got some beef, as it looks like he'll be happy with that, for the time being.
