The race to sign Jermaine Easter is firmly on after Franchise and Swindon Town both lodged bids for the Welsh international, skysports.com can confirm.

The 25-year-old striker is set to start the season with Wycombe but his long-term future appears to be very much in doubt.

Both the Dons and Robins have now made firm offers but it is understood a host of other clubs are ready to launch counter bids.

Interest mounts

Cardiff, Swansea, Bristol City, Millwall and Queens Park Rangers are also amongst the clubs said to be looking at the player.

Easter has always admitted he is happy with The Chairboys, but he may find the option to move tempting.

Wycombe will decide on Easter's future over the coming days but may find it hard to hang onto one of the most highly-rated players in the lower leagues.

Also would take a decent fee to prize him away (as it would Asamoah).

Interesting!

19 goals in 28 appearances last season 15 of those as a sub.  8 in eighteen at Stockpork the season before.  He's one of those that has had a lot of clubs but until last season never really got a lot of games under his belt.

Decent record where he's been mind and got 7 in 7 in the league cup last year.

That said they paid 80k for him last season and I can't see Wycombe letting him go on the cheap.  They're thinner up top than Fatbury.

Franchise have just received £1m+ for mcleod so they'll be able to top whatever we can offer.

30% went to Derby though and it's 1.1 mil to start with, granted that's still a lot of money but the stadium has cost a lot more than they anticipated, furthermore if Easter chose MK then he's a cock anyway.

Except league one football.

Had to get that motherfucka in.

That said they slapped a £675,000 price tag on their "ace hitman in an effort to ward predators away and have not received an offer since Romanian first division outfit Universitatea Craiova made a move for him in December."

Plus I think he's sniffing around trying to get back in the Welsh squad by the sounds of it.

If we have lodged a serious bid for Easter it suggests the 'takeover/investment' is done bar the shouting.

I'll be amazed if our offer matches Wycombe's valuation, even if the takeover goes through.
