Negotiations have been ongoing with a consortium, believed to be Portuguese, for weeks and non executive director Bob Holt confirmed a deal is imminent.
He said: "The administrators have been informed, everything is agreed and I know the board have spoken to them today. They want to be in charge and be majority shareholders before the start of the season.
"I would be disappointed if it is not completed by Friday. We have always been working towards getting them in by the start and I have been given every reason to believe that."
It means the Robins are likely to kick off their new League One campaign at Northampton Town on Saturday under new ownership.
The takeover would also help lift the £900,000 unpaid Company Voluntary Agreement off the club's shoulders.

Anything Bob Holt says needs to be put through the bullshit encoder in order to decipher it. I think we should wait and see.
If the CVA is going to be paid, that's certainly good news. I'll only be breaking out the champagne, though, when we know what the intentions of the new owners are. The fact that they have insisted on anonymity deserves a great deal of suspicion.

Well hopefully if true we can party on Saturday should everything be revealed. How much money will be made available, CVA, Stadium plans etc, will there be money to bolster the team and sign a striker? Who is involved. Surly this will all be revealed soon lets hope.
