So who knows much about ebay?

Heres the situation:

Bought a pair of trainers on Ebay, Buy it now and then found a website where they assess the item for fakes etc. and turns out they are fakes (I found this website after purchasing).  The seller is stating 100% authentic and happy for people to contact him etc. however hasn't replied since Friday morning.

I don't know if he has posted goods yet however I don't want them now I know they're not genuine.  I have 2 options

After speaking to the bank today I can get my money back if I cancel the transaction today before 3pm however I risk a bad feedback from ebay and also, I don't know if the seller has posted the item or not as he hasn't bothered contacting me.

Option 2 is that I don't cancel the transaction and hope the product arrives although will prob have to send back anyway as like I said, I only want genuines and I don't want to get into trouble with ebay for receiving an item and not paying for it, but theres nothing I can do if the seller isn't replying to my queries/messages.

I'm really stuck :?

I use ebay quite a lot and don't want to risk not being able to use it again.

cancel the transaction and risk the feedback but try sending him/her another message saying you weren't interested in fakes but no hard feelings and can we both leave positive feedback. if the seller leaves it first then give him/her negative!

but if the items are fake (which 99% of items are on ebay) then ebay wont ban you and 1 negative feedback isn't all that bad. especially as you can state that they were fake and didn't wan't them.

then he is stupid as payment hasn't cleared. basic rule of selling on ebay (or anywhere) - don't give the customer the merchandise until you have the money.

don't sign for them. that way you haven't received them.

no doubt he would have sent them recorded delivery so will have insurance if they go missing

Cancel the transaction and if you get bad feedback you can explain that the seller ripped you off. Also we'll all know you are wearing fakes    Wink

Cancelled with the Bank, emailed ebay to state why and send seller a message saying the following:

Please be advised that I have cancelled this transaction due to no communication and having the goods checked, and confirmed as fakes.
I request you not to leave negative feedback as the item is not 100% authentic as you described and also you cannot be contacted with ease. I will agree not to leave any feedback at all however please bear in mind there are plenty of organisations monitoring ebay items for illegitimate goods and they are really cracking down reporting sellers to trading standards.

Just wear them. no-one will know they are fakes.

Unless they are made by Nake or Reebak or something Cheesy

Nah I honestly thought they were genuine.

Apparently fakes fall apart real easily and stink of glue!

Basically the way to see it Lady is that you have nothing to be ashamed of .. if he lied that they were genuine its his fault .. too many cowboys on ebay !
