A mate who is an Oldham fan has told me that the latest rumour doing the rounds for them is that Paul Scholes (Oldham born and bred, goes to watch games with his son in an OAFC shirt) has been diagnosed with a medical problem which is going to shorten his career and it seems Man U might terminate his contract so that he can play with them for a season or two (for a nominal wage) and let his lad see him in the shirt.

With 2 hours to go to deadline, can we top this?  Cheesy

I doubt the tone can get much lower after the soccer AM thread to be fair.

Ahh, you were one of the places I heard it. I read it in a magazine I believe, possibly even 4-4-2.

I heard it straight out the mouth of a united fan who normally knows what's what around the club, not that he said it was true.  The rumour changed though, as at first it was that he had cancer, then that he was disallusioned with football.  Took a while for it to reach Oldham though Smiley

He said end of season as well mind.

I have a friend who's a Man Utd season ticket holder and the rumour on the 'terraces' is that he has cancer.

Hope not, does seem strange he's out for the rest of the season though.

They're missing him as well, the midfield was completely out-played at Liverpool yesterday.
