Ok, my flatmate kindly put my car in the garage for me recently but not very helpfully left the keys in the car and apparently the garage door locked as it shut (unusual as you normally have to manually turn a key to lock a garage).
Anyway, before I phone a locksmith next week, anybody have any idea how to pick a garage lock?
Also, how much is a locksmith likely to charge should I need to go down that route?

If it's an up-and-over there should be enough space at the top for you to reach inside with long pliars and tug the wire down to release the spring loaded catch.
If it's not, use a hammer.

As Santini says, if it's an up-and-over type door just give it a good firm whack at the top and it usually nudges the catch out of place.

Ok, the locksmith came today and freed the car. I went for a spin and I can drive ok (little bit unconfortable but no real pain). I was happy as a pig in shit until I come to reverse the car into the garage. My foot slips off the clutch/brake (not sure which) and bang goes the mirror into the garage hinge! On inspection, there is a small dent on the back of the mirror and the paint around the glass is badly scraped on 3 sides.
I feel like somebody has it in for me!

How much did it cost for the locksmith? No idea. Will get the bill through the post. How much is it to replace car mirrors? Bearing in mind these are electric are they likely to cost a bomb?
