With support from Bristol's finest, Saturdays and Sundays with Swindon's own highly rated Seven Years On plus DJ Dust on the decks.
All in all another fantastic Thursday night and still only £3 on the door for all this entertainment - where else can you get such value for money?
The Flaming Moes, originating from Skara in Sweden started life in 2002 with their first EP coming a year later which mostly constituted of more up-tempo songs, like the joyous and harmonica-tinged live favourite "donkey", the fast and furious country outing "some other day" and the rolling piano-beatlesque minor radio hit "hard to get". Then there was the more gospel-influensed ballad "simple ghost" to show just how great the bands’ vocal abilities were. The e.p. was well-received by the Swedish press and got a decent amount of radio time for being a CD released by the band themselves.
After an album, tours, lots of studio time then a couple of years of local gigs the band decided to make a record once again, and in January 2007 they started recording what was to be the second e.p. "We'll Never Forget Where Our Hearts Lie – Love, The Flaming Moes", a six song record, with ambitiously produced soul-pop-rock music, filled with roaring vocal exercises, horn sections, synthesizers and gorgeous band interplay. A bright and up-lifting record, overtly happy on the outside, but at the same time with a lot of underlying content (thus the somewhat ambiguous title...). Hopefully a record that will grow on people. That won’t stop haunting them. A record for everyone.
Saturdays and Sundays are an eclectic Indie/Pop/Rock trio from Bristol UK. Formed in October 05, SaS warp old school influences with an electric hit of Indie to get your feet on the dancefloor! "Saturdays and Sundays are the melodic escape from the dirge of your everyday dreariness. I dare you to listen and not find yourself walking down the street with a smile on your face."
Seven Years On create music that's both dark and melodic whilst retaining enough hooks to hang your winter coat on. There's a little bit of scuffed up pop goodness in the mix, fighting it out with noisy guitars and taut rhythms.
