Agreed! Thats quite bent really. If FIFA take that stance you could dress up as an opposition fan and run on the pitch and attack the ref so your team win.

Sweden were 3-0 up,  then Denmark pulled it back to 3-3.  Sweden were then awarded at 89th min penalty, and then the fan ran onto pitch

Sweden's Euro 2008 qualifier away to Denmark was abandoned after 89 minutes when a fan tried to attack the referee.
Denmark had fought back from 3-0 down to make it 3-3 when Herbert Fandel sent off Denmark defender Christian Poulsen.

After a spectator ran towards the referee and was intercepted by Danish players the official walked off.

Uefa say the result will not be confirmed until their disciplinary committee has read the referee's and delegate's reports from Copenhagen.

They COULD decide to award a 3-0 victory to the Swedes.

Sounds from the report the 'fan' TRIED to attack the ref, but failed.

I am not one to condone violence, but wouldn't it have been better for the match to continue, and let UEFA take action after the game against Denmark.

Nah that would be common sense then you would have to put that in the same sentence as fifa and that would just not make sense

How true. UEFA and FIFA are full of pompous twats who couldn't make a proper decision between them, as proved by the stupid offside rule (active/inactive?), and are full of corrupt officials (Jack Warner and Sepp Blatter, to name but two).

Also, I've just noticed that it was that same arrogant German ref who refereed the Champs League final 10 days ago, who reffed that Denmark game.

It was the same ref who done the champions league. Saw the incident Poulsen Punched Elmander in the stomach. The ref saw it sent Poulsen off and gave a pen. With a minute to go in the game as well.

I was watching the game in a bar in Leicester Square which the London Scandinavian society had hired out. It was a great game all the way through, and it is unbelieveable that it ended like that.

Only one person ran onto the pitch, and the Danish players prevented him from attacking the referee.

However, you did have to wonder about the security arrangements, as when the players had gone off and the officials were deciding what to do, another man went onto the pitch, found a ball and dribbled it to the other end of the field before scoring at the Sweden end. Very funny, but given what had just happened, I couldn't believe that the security didn't stop him.

Was hardly any need to stop the game. They should have just finished the match.
