i've finished work at 2am and started again at 9am plenty of times, you used to able to opt out of working directives, haven't done it for a few years though.

New directives kick in from 1 June IIRC, which mean you can no longer opt out.

i'm sure he'll be very responsive to new EU directives, just like all the other small businesses in england that have to get a job done. at least on 1 July you'll not have any second hand smoke, only your own first hand quality stuff!

I think he quite likes the EU. I'm pretty sure he'd want us to joining the Euro anyway. Also it's non-smoking so that doesn't change much. Part of the smoking law change means that the business will me responsible for clearing up the cigarette butts from the street outside. Guess it's to save the council doing it all the time.

I doubt it. Don't know how regularly the streets get cleaned by the council anyway, but I could imagine the outside of some pubs getting pretty bad over a weekend.
