It's been between us and Cheltenham for ages though so I don't think anything has changed. And Rovers have always  said we were the preferred option.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bristol_rovers/6267143.stm
Quote from: "Rovers chief executive Bill Smith, 18th Jan 07"

Smith added: "Ashton Gate is not far away, but let's not be emotive and say it would be putting funds into the coffers of a competitor - and there may be an unacceptably high police bill.

"If I were a betting man, I would be inclined to bet in favour of the rugby club winding up there, which would tend to rule us out.

"Swindon is also a licensed Football League ground and they would love to have us.

The Memorial Stadium
Rovers have played at the Memorial Stadium for more than a decade
"We were successful when we were at Twerton Park before, and I know they would like to have us - but it's not a licensed Football League ground and it would cost us more than a few bob to bring it up to the required standard.

"In terms of location, the cricket ground would be the best option, but I suspect the cost of conversion would be prohibitive for such a short period of time.

"Then there is Cheltenham, but I can't think of a single advantage over Swindon.

"There's the Recreation Ground in Bath, but I am not sure whether that would be permitted.

"And Forest Green Rovers is on the small side, not easy to get to by public transport, and not yet a licensed Football League ground."

If we hadn't already said 'yes' in principle, why would they (Rovers) bother with Swindon or Cheltenham vote on their official site.

If it does get stopped it'll be the old bill that says no, rather than the will of the club management.

An unacceptably high police bill??  There will be an enormous police bill if they come to Swindon!

If it was just up to the board, I wouldn't be surprised to see them here.

But surely the council and police will have the final say?

The police will never let it happen. That with the locals view on the matter will be enough. It will go to one of the new venues that are being looked at. If im wrong come back and laugh, but im 100% they wont be playing here!

Out of interest, why do you think our police wouldn't allow it, but Cheltnum's would......why do think our locals would be against it but Cheltnum's not?

Have figures been quoted as yet on what rent Rovers would be paying?

At what point did i say they would play at Cheltenham? I dont think they will go there either. There are 2 new venues being looked at.

Only time will tell. Im just giving my opinion the same as others. But i just cant ever see it happening.
