So many people going back on their opinions on this in the media it annoys me.
It's a backward move to a player who should have signed away any hopes of playing for England when he opted out to a mickey-mouse USA league, he was shit for us since 2003 and frankly he single-handedly cost us two tournaments- '98 and '04.
Get SWP or Aaron Lennon and COACH them, not go back to flogging a dead horse. on that basis then anyone who has played for us since o3 should not be in the squad.As for coaching swp or lennon are you taking the piss??? This is international football ffs if thay are not coached yet they should not be no where near the squad in my opinion

He had a cracker for Real a week or so ago as well, some stunning quality on his crosses and a lot of running.
I'd prefer him to Lampard, always have (then again I despise Lampard being anywhere near the England team). SWP is the best runner up in that position but he needs to play club football on a regular basis. I think he has a little something that Lennon doesn't (who seems to rely on pace which he won't always be able to use).
Gerrard with A N Other filling the defensive duties and let Gerrard play how he does when he's bossing it for Liverpool.

Beckham should be captain and should never have been dropped.
Mclaren is a tool.

Beckham should never have been England captain IMHO, but clearly deserves his place in the squad - I'm not his biggest fan, but you don't go from being captain and a certain starter to not even in the squad. McLaren made a political decision and it made him look a fool - He said Becks wasn't playing then picked Richardson and SWP who didn't play either, even with injuries in RM McLaren wouldn't pick him, now he's panicked and selected him - by no means a certain starter but worth a place in the squad. I half expect to see him back in Europe soon if he can saty in teh England set-up - for my money his biggest mistake has been the move to LA - basically admitting he was never gonna make England again - I bet now he's back in the squad he's having second thoughts about the MLS.

beckham should be in the squad and never should have been dropped.wright phillips and lennon aint fit to lace his boots imo the fact that idiot maclaren is manager means more years of no trophies though anyway.so its all irrelivant really.

I like the bloke, so pleased for him in a way, but he's not good enough and there's as good available who'll get better and be in the side for more than a few months - we're just going to have to go and drop him again. McLaren's just written his own resignation

Beckham aside, my main point over this whole issue is the dramatic U Turn that McClaren has just made.
This proves that ;
He is weak
He does not know his best 22
Does England have a best 22 ?
He is susceptible to media pressure.
Oh...................and he is a cock

I do not support England, but I think McClaren is just clutching a straws in an attempt to save his job.
