Gurney was one of the most useless twats ever to put on a Town shirt. I couldn't believe it when we got him back. He should have been playing no league years go.

Something of a utility player, Gurney will join the Hawks in an attacking midfield role

He should have been playing no league years go. gurns is a decent player and versatile as well. his propensity to blast free kicks and shots into the bank/over the town end was frustrating, as was the constant gobbing off at refs. he was a passionate, whole-hearted player who could play a bit as well.

I liked his commitment and whole heartedness, I really hated his gobby, dissenting, and his thought that once within the opponents half the best option was always to shoot - one or two free-kicks doesn't make a career. He was OK, but with some serious limitations - best at full back IMHO - never a midfielder - not intelligent enought use of the ball for me.

As a captain he was useless - the only time he opened his mouth was to gob off ( yet again ) at the referee until he got the inevitable booking. He gave no encouragement to any other player. Tactically he was crap. His positioning was pathetic and how many times did he lose possession in dangerous areas. He had zero organisational skills. I agree about his free kicks but thats all he had. And as for being committed, how many games did he hide in? He was a bottler and a selfish player. Have people forgotten 'Nam away when we were singing "where's our captain gone" before he decided to do an "Aaron Brown" to us along with his mate Heywood. He was pure unadulterated dogshit.
